1. Alabama
The high infection rate of Alabama (average number of people infected) is 1.18 and the positive test rate of 14.1 percent has placed it in the “critical” category. The state still has the possibility of running out of ICU beds, and not nearly enough contact tracers to track new coronavirus infections, according to Covid Act Now. Although the overall death rate of COVID has been lower, Alabama has recently been listed as one of the states where the number of weekly deaths is increasing. According to The New York Times, there were almost 53,600 coronavirus cases in the state as of July 13, with more than 1,120 deaths.
