13. You shouldn’t stray from the tradition
Your guests will expect turkey, cranberry sauce, stuffing, mashed potatoes, and pumpkin pie on the Thanksgiving table. Do not disappoint them. Even if you feel like they would love your inventive dishes more, you need to offer them the classics, too.
14. You should never brag about your (or your children’s) accomplishments
While it might be tempting to show off, especially to the people you haven’t seen in awhile, try to stay humble and kind. You can talk about your new job or about your child’s school performances, just don’t make it a competition by comparing yourself to the other guests.
15. You shouldn’t go shopping
Thanksgiving is for family and loved ones, there are enough days to enjoy Black Friday so there’s no point in doing it on Thanksgiving day. Retailers usually open early on Thanksgiving for those who want to shop, but if you did your grocery shopping already, the sales can wait a day or two.
Think about the ones that are forced to work on this day, if you’re not one of them, enjoy your holiday by spending time with your family.
