Tennessee
The Tennessee Department of Health also announced that Johnson & Johnson vaccination will resume in the state immediately. As Lisa Piercey, MD, and Tennessee Department of Health mentioned in her statement, it’s great news for everybody that we’ll have a third vaccine available for use as of April 23.
She also added that right now the Johnson & Johnson vaccine is low in supply in the state of Tennessee, but there are always Pfizer and Moderna you can opt for until the other one will be available as well.
Texas
As of April 24, the Johnson & Johnson vaccine will resume vaccination in Texas, according to a statement released by the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS).
As John Hellerstedt, MD, Texas DSHS Commissioner has explained, Texans are simple human beings and they prefer the idea of a one-shot vaccine, rather than getting a vaccine that requires two shots. The Johnson & Johnson vaccine can also be stored more easily than the other two, so it offers providers more flexibility as well.
He also added that a third vaccine will help to prevent hospitalizations and severe COVID-19 cases, and eventually, save lives.
