This statue belongs to the Belgian artist Jan Febre, created in 2005 to commemorate the 575th anniversary of the Catholic University at Leuven, Belgium.
It illustrates a gigantic beetle turned upside-down impaled on a 75-foot needle, outside the University library, representing the spirit of the city and the University.
