You can see a full moon

You can enjoy a full moon during autumn equinox when the Earth’s equator lines up with the sun’s center. The harvest moon can usually be seen in September or October, and it’s can look almost orange.

Did you know that it got its name because it was very helpful when the farmers harvested summer crops? It is very bright and stunning to watch so if you get the chance, don’t miss it!

Autumn’s story according to Greeks

Scientifically speaking, fall takes place when the Earth tilts from the sun. However, the ancient Greeks gave autumn a much more interesting explanation. In ancient Greek, autumn is caused by Persephone’s return to the underworld, where she rules as Hades’ queen.

However, her return left her mother, Demeter, the goddess of fertility and harvest, very angry. So she decided to let all the planet’s crops to wither, until her daughter’s return in the spring. I definitely like this version more than the scientific one.

Autumn born babies are more active

Apparently, the season you are born in can influence your health development. According to a study made by researchers at the Bristol University on more than 14,000 participants born in the 90s, autumn born children turned out to be nine percent more active than children born in spring, summer and winter.

The study’s lead author linked this to the beginning of the school season, explaining that children born later in the school year are likely to be smaller than their colleagues and could be disadvantaged in sports or other activities, Calum Mattocks added.

Best time of the year to watch romantic comedies

According to a study published in the Journal of Consumer Research, fall is the best season for watching romantic comedies, as both men and women are more inclined to watch them compared to the rest of the year.

But researchers have an explanation for this. They believe that physical coldness triggers a desire for psychological warmth, which contributes to people feeling the need to watch more romantic movies.

Halloween might actually be good for your heart’s health

Halloween frights are proven to be good for your health, so if someone almost gives you a heart attack, is actually the opposite of what you might think. According to specialists, a little, innocent scare can promote heart health.

For instance, watching a horror movie, a scary prank or a visit to a hunted house might actually be good for your heart. And that’s because when you’re scared, your adrenaline makes blood vessels contract and your body triggers a “flight or fight” response by re-directing blood toward the heart and lungs, explains Michael Castine, a cardiologist at Ochsner Medical Center.
So a little scare now and then prepares your heart to pump more blood if a real stroke happens by “increasing your cardiac output up to eight times its resting capacity,” Castine continued.
