Everyone really does know everyone
If you chat about your boss in a New York café, there’s no possibility that anyone would know who you’re talking about. But in the small town of Hertfordshire? That’s a totally different story. John Barber learned this valuable lesson quickly: be careful what you say. “Everyone was attached to someone else by birth, family, marriage or possibly all three. It was better not to criticize anyone before knowing exactly who they knew.”
Most often than not, people living in small towns have close family and social links to their families, making loose lips practically forbidden.

i’ve lived in the rio grande valley, texas. its hot as blazes, but its very cheap to live here. san benito is 35,000 people and that’s big enough for me. of course there very little opportunity here, but i’m retired and can’t afford to live anywhere else. so i guess this is where i’m going to die. every place has its pluses and minuses……….there is no utopia……….bummer!
