A New Omicron Variant Is Spreading… And FAST!

It’s been almost two months since the Omicron variant has appeared. And, in such a short time, a subvariant of Omicron has even occurred in Denmark, named BA.2. There have been almost two years since the pandemic started, and yet, we are far from it being over.

The wave caused by the first Omicron variant may be over, but the one caused by the new one is a different concern. Right now, there’s no need to be worried about it. But there are some things you should be aware of, and we’re here for you.

Right now, the second strain is pretty rare in the U.S. However, scientists are expecting it to spread throughout our country over the next month. That being said, they are monitoring the situation up close.

What exactly is BA.2?

The new variant is called BA.2 and it’s a subvariant of the Omicron one. The term Omicron refers to the whole bunch of variants that started to occur in November 2021. The majority of Omicron cases were known as BA.1.

The new variant has 32 mutations in common with BA.1 and 28 different ones.
