1. AI struggles for face Recognition
This might be the funniest thing that AI has ever done because a lot of times the image recognition features fail to work properly. This function is designed to identify objects or specific people in the images. But, after all, it is just a machine, right? And we have to understand that mistakes can be made. One funny situation took place a couple of years ago in Inverness, where the local football team Inverness Caledonia Thistle FC set up Amazon’s facial recognition to ball-tracking instead, because they wanted to have the ball followed automatically at all times.
Imagine yourself watching the game and suddenly all you can see are AI bugs identifying bald people and mistaking them for actual soccer balls. Haha! I wouldn’t want to be in their place, poor guys!
On the other hand, another time when AI struggled to detect faces in a photo was in 2015, when one user got angry because his African-American friends were tagged as…well, monkeys. Of course, they decided to take this to Twitter and make everything public. Can you imagine? This mistake was pretty nasty, but in the end, Google apologized.
Has this ever happened to you?
