5. The truth is really not what it seems
Schoolwork excuses have just gotten more and more creative over the years, but not in the way we expect them to. There were a ton back when we were in school and with the advancement of technology we are sure that kids these days have invented even more than we can think of. But some teachers are still old school in that way and ask for their assignments on paper. But what do you do when your student comes to tell you that their homework has been snowed in?
Yeah, you read that right. A teacher faced this problem one winter when a student came without their homework. Their excuse? The paper fell onto the road where there was a ton of snow, only for the snowplow to cover it right after. The teacher was amused by the story and gave the kid an extension for their elaborate lie so they could redo the assignment.
The joke of this story? Come spring, the kid came with a ragged folder containing the original homework which they took out of their former snowy grave. Seems like even when you’re sure someone’s lying they could easily just be telling the truth.
6. Dog eats homework
We have all heard of this excuse, and some of us have even tried it! With various degrees of success of course. None of us knows just how many times teachers heard this excuse. But what if we told you that sometimes the students get to hear it too?
It happened to a teacher. She was marking some papers when her husband called her over, so she had to leave them behind to help her spouse. Low and behold, their puppy found the pile of papers and had a blast with them! Effectively ripping some of the assignments apart. It may sound like an excuse when you say “the dog ate my homework”, but we wonder what happened when the teacher emailed the students to let them know that they got 100 on the assignment because “my dog ate your homework”. They must have had a blast hearing that one!
