Tennessee is now reporting an average of 21.9 new daily coronavirus cases per 100,000 residents. The state set a new single-day record for coronavirus infections on July 8 and recorded 1,605 new infections and 25 deaths between July 9 and July 10, for a total of 57,591 infections and 710 deaths across the state.

While national shutdown plans have not been confirmed, officials have underlined the importance of wearing masks— something that is not yet state-wide mandated. “If we want to keep bars open and the economy moving forward, we have to take the responsibility of wearing masks, social distancing,” said Governor Bill Lee in a July 8 press conference.
