Showers are not only good for your health-they are also fantastic for your creativity. Researchers gave volunteers creativity problems to solve followed by a period of rest for a 2012 study published in the journal Psychological Science.
Some were assigned challenging tasks during that time, while others performed simpler tasks which allowed their minds to wander (just like a shower does). Those who did the simpler tasks during the rest period were more likely to solve the original problems of creativity.
18. Abraham Lincoln’s bodyguard left his post at Ford’s Theatre to go for a drink.
You already know that John Wilkes Booth shot and killed Abraham Lincoln while attending Laura Keene’s acclaimed performance of “Our American Cousin” on 14 April 1865 at Ford’s Theatre in Washington, D.C. But what you may not have been aware of is that on that awful night, the Smithsonian notes, the president had a bodyguard named John Frederick Parker with him.
Sadly, Parker had a less-than-stellar reputation as a police officer. The officer left his post to protect the president to get a drink at the Star Saloon next door to the theatre, after being three hours late for his shift. Booth entered the box seats where Lincoln sat and shot the president during that time.
