While Scotland proudly boasts the Loch Ness Monster, one of the most famous legendary monsters in the world, the country chose to make its national animal another legendary beast: the unicorn.
While this may sound like a surprising choice, Visit Scotland states that unicorns have played an important role in the history of the country. William I used the “proud beast” in the Royal Scottish coat of arms back in the 12th century.
6. The total weight of ants on earth once equaled the total weight of people.
According to entomologists’ estimations, there are at least one million trillion insects, and just one percent are ants, writes the BBC.
