Avoid taking OTC meds.

While over-the-counter painkiller might be the easiest method to ease pain, especially after the COVID-19 vaccination, health experts do not recommend taking them a few days before receiving the vaccine.

According to Baltimore-based internal medicine physician Vivek Cherian, MD, told Eat This, Not That! Health, it would be better to avoid over-the-counter painkillers because there’s a chance that meds like Advil or Tylenol could interfere with your immune system’s response to vaccines, including the one against COVID-19, so it would be better to stop taking them a few days prior to vaccination.

As Cherian has added, as soon as you’ve received your COVID-19 vaccine, you can safely take these pain relievers if you want to.
