COVID-19 continues to surge all across the United States, and the numbers are very concerning. The country hit 181, 551 cases on November 13th in a single day, making this virus the third-leading cause of death in America. Many of the states have considered imposing more serious restrictions to stop the spread of the virus and to avoid a new lockdown.
The novel coronavirus cases are also rising all around the world again. With temperatures dropping, European countries such as France and Germany have imposed a second COVID-19 lockdown as a result of the high number of new infections. Spain implemented curfews between 11 p.m. and 6 a.m. and Belgium just started to close again all the non-essential businesses.
In the United States, there wasn’t a national lockdown, but there were many states that chose to implement stay-at-home orders back in spring. Unfortunately, a second COVID-19 lockdown might be inevitable in some of the states that are not handling the outbreak very well at this moment. New York has limited closing hours in bars, restaurants, and gyms, and they’re planning to close public schools in the numbers continue to rise. Massachusetts implemented curfews between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. and mask mandates all across the state. In Illinois, a second lockdown is expected, while Chicago is under stay-at-home orders as of Nov. 16. In Oregon, indoor dining has been banned for two weeks, and gyms have been shut down.
