Window nets
Even though we’re definitely not the only country that’s using window nets to keep bugs from entering our home, we were definitely the ones that came up with this idea, so it’s fair to say window screens are originally American.
“I just have to ask this to see if anyone knows why… there are no screens on any of the windows of hotels, homes, etc [sic]. What is up with that?,” one American visiting Europe wrote.
“I have often wondered that as well… I remember closing windows in Greece cause I thought bugs would get in and waking up in the middle of the night drenched in sweat,” wrote another.
