Elton John
Who doesn’t love Elton John, really? He became the world’s greatest artist in the 1970s, even though he was using a lot of cocaine back then because he was very shy and needed something to help him conquer that.
He said that using drugs made him more confident on the stage, so he continued to use them until he became addicted. However, Elton John needed years and years of sobriety until he felt ready to open up about his experience with drugs.
But now, Elton John is helping other people in their sobriety process. He even appeared in Demi Lovato’s ‘Dancing with the devil’ 2021 documentary, where he said that he doesn’t agree with Demi’s methods of being ‘California Sober’. For him, you’re either sober or you’re not, there’s no in-between.
Elton John doesn’t believe in moderation, especially when you have a history of addiction. For him, the thing that made him quit drugs was his relationship with AIDS patient, Ryan White. He was helping White and his family when he came to the conclusion that they were helping him instead. After White’s death, Elton John never touched drugs again.
