Wen believes the fact that Joe Biden is still choosing to wear a face mask is making all the vaccines against COVID-19 look bad.
“Of course, you wouldn’t know that the vaccines are so effective by looking at the CDC’s overly-cautious guidelines. Already, a very damaging narrative is taking hold: If the vaccines are so effective, then why so many precautions for the fully vaccinated? What’s the point of getting inoculated if not much changes?” she wrote.
She also believes that Biden wearing a mask on April 28 at his Congressional address made a huge mistake, as he missed the opportunity of reducing vaccine hesitancy among Americans. She also considered a major issue the fact the there were 200 attendees in a White House chamber that can hold more than 1,600 people, and all of them were vaccinated anyway.
Even though almost half of the United States population is vaccinated at the moment, the other half that isn’t vaccinated yet is hesitant to get the shot because they’re still not certain about the vaccine’s safety and efficacy.
