2. American troops and clapping

In 2016, when holding a speech at the 380th Air Expeditionary Wing which was stationed in Abu Dhabi, Joe Biden was not satisfied with the way the troops clapped during a set-up applause line. It seemed that he was seeking approval for the fact that he recommended one of the officers of the group for the Air Force Academy, yet that did not happen.

When the reaction was not what he expected, he said “Clap for that, you stupid bastards.” Quite poor taste, if you asked us. And the troops apparently shared the sentiment as he was met with a deafening silence. He then continued with the rhetoric calling them a “dull bunch”, while the members of service behind him gave him a judgemental look.

We cannot blame them, as the jokes Biden attempted were in poor taste and he should have expected that his audience would not share his amusement at those words. We wonder if there is anyone who would find them funny. Gotta be careful what you say, Mr. President.
