Since the comments years before, you may think that Joe Biden has managed to find a bit of a balance, so he would stop saying the first thing that came into his mind in the face of certain situations. Or that he could have looked up some public speaking tips so these would not happen again. Yet, in 2020, at the end of a show in May, with radio host Charlamagne Tha God, Joe Biden’s remark managed to enrage the African American voters.
When confronted with the idea that there was still time until voting and that the people may still have questions, president Biden reacted unexpectedly. He claimed that if people are still conflicted between himself and his opposing candidate, Donald Trump, then “you ain’t black”. This shocked both the community and both political sides, some saying that was one of the most condescending moments they have seen.
The sentiment was mirrored by the African American voters who believed that the Democrats were getting too comfortable and took their voters for granted. The future president apologized afterward, admitting he should not have been that arrogant.
