The information is suspected of being ‘outdated’. According to the statement, “The DSMB expressed concern that AstraZeneca may have included outdated information from that trial, which may have provided an incomplete view of the efficacy data.”
The company is urged to work with the Data and Safety Monitoring Board (DSMB) in order to ‘prove’ its clinical trial results are 100 percent accurate, and “up-to-date efficacy data be made public as quickly as possible.”
Just like the other three COVID-19 vaccines that have been approved in the United States, such as Pfizer, Moderna, and Johnson & Johnson, AstraZeneca’s approval, authorization and guidelines will be decided by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
