13. “I remember you.”
The person you’ve just been introduced to seems to remember you. They can also name your mutual friend and the group you’ve met for the first time. But you don’t know who they are, and you don’t want to admit it, so you smile and warmly remember meeting them before. It’s a banal white lie that saves both parties some embarrassment.
14. “That makes sense.”
When a friend discusses their decision to move miles out of town or to get a pet iguana rather than a dog or some other option that seems odd or illogical, usually that’s the only thing you can say.
